Congratulations to KATY ALEX, winner of the Merseyrail Sound Station Prize 2015!
10 finalists played in a fantastic live festival at Moorfields station on Saturday 21st November and, following tough deliberations between the judges, Katy Alex was crowned the overall winner at a presentation party at Hatch.
Katy was then whisked away to record a live set and interview with BBC Radio Merseyside, broadcast on the BBC Introducing show with Dave Monks. Katy will now also enjoy a year of professional music industry mentoring and management, studio recording time and a year’s free Merseyrail travel.
An expert panel of judges deliberated long and hard over the 10 performers of this year’s final, and were unanimous in their decision to award the Prize to Katy as one of the most exciting talents around. The 2015 Prize was awarded by Merseyrail MD Jan Van de Velde*, and the judging panel consisted of: Christopher Torpey, Editor of Bido Lito! Magazine; Nick Otaegui from Liverpool Sound City; Paddy Cloherty from Sentric Music; Michael Johnson from Tankfield Recording Studios; and last year’s winner Blue Saint, who also performed live at the presentation event at Hatch.
Thank you so much to everyone who entered Merseyrail Sound Station 2015, the standard was really high this year and the live final was a fantastic. Check out the next Merseyrail Sound Station podcast for an interview with the 2015 winner.
