On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August we will be hosting our latest Upload Day at St Michaels Station in Aigburth, for people to come along and record their entries for the Merseyrail Sound Station Prize 2015. The Sound Station team will be there and helping with entries between midday and 4pm each day, and will be hosting some special guest sets in between the uploads.
If you want to enter this year’s MSS Prize but you haven’t yet got round to it then this Upload Day is the perfect chance for you to change that. Not only will our team help film your entry video on the day, but we’ll also upload your video to the Merseyrail Sound Station Facebook page and confirm your entry. All you need to do to book your slot is to write on our Facebook page or send us a direct message saying that you want to come and upload, and we will book you in for a slot.
This Upload Day is being run in association with Liverpool International Music Festival, a mammoth free event which is taking place between 27th and 31st August across Liverpool in a host of different events and venues. The biggest aspect of LIMF is always the massive free Summer Jam music party that takes place in Sefton Park over the August bank holiday weekend, and has drawn record crowds of revellers for the past two years. BASEMENT JAXX, RAE MORRIS, LABRINTH, LAURA MVULA and KATY B will be among the huge stars headlining LIMF’s flagship event this year, with a special joint show with ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN and the ROYAL LIVERPOOL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA closing the festival on the final night.
Each year LIMF also plays host to dozens of emerging local acts who take to the itsLiverpool Stage alongside these huge names in pop, casting a light on some of the stars of the future and present that have been made on Merseyside. A host of our former Sound Station podcast session artists will feature over the four days in Sefton Park, including HOOTON TENNIS CLUB, SHE DREW THE GUN and HOLY THURSDAY, and last year’s MSS Prize winner BLUE SAINT appears on the Bido Lito! and Getintothis-curated stage on Sunday 30th August, alongside LEWIS MAXWELL, the 15-year-old singer-songwriter who was chosen from the amazing group of artists who came enter the MSS Prize at our Central Station Upload Day in July. It promises to be a great event, and come along and say hi to us at St Michaels if you’re getting the train to Sefton Park for the festivities.
And here’s an entry video from one of last year’s MSS Prize upload days at St Michaels by We, The Undersigned. See you at St Michaels!
